Man pleads guilty to Lamar Co. arson

From staff reports

PURVIS A second man charged with two counts of first-degree arson pleaded guilty Friday in 15th District Circuit Court.

Jeffrey Dakota Pace was sentenced to the Regimented Discipline Program and the charges non-adjudicated by Judge Prentiss Harrell, meaning upon completion of the RID program, the charges will be expunged from Pace’s record.

Pace, who was training with the Oak Grove Volunteer Department in December 2012 when the incidents occurred, also was ordered to pay $45,317 restitution.

The charges stemmed from separate fires set at residential buildings on McMahon Road.

Earlier this week, former Oak Grove VFD firefighter Michael Graham Davis pleaded guilty to the same charges and was given the same sentence by Harrell.

Each man could have faced from five to 20 years on each the charges.
