Hattiesburg fire victim identified

Hattiesburg's deputy coroner has released the identity of a woman who died in an early morning apartment fire Saturday.

Forrest County Deputy Coroner Lisa Klem identified the woman as Hattiesburg resident Kayla Ducksworth, 26.

Ducksworth was found in her apartment at 900 Cypress Ave. around 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

The apartment received moderate fire damage.

Klem said Ducksworth was pronounced dead at Forrest General Hospital at 3:30 a.m.

The victim's body has been sent to the Mississippi Crime Lab where it will undergo autopsy to determine the cause of death.
