Laurel man dead in one-vehicle crash

A 59-year-old Laurel man has died in a one-vehicle crash in Jones County.

Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Brent Barfield said Robert Earl Carter was travelling northbound on Interstate 59 at 1:50 a.m. when his vehicle left the roadway at mile marker 79.

It is believed Carter tried to over correct his 2005 Ford truck, causing it to roll over.  He was wearing a seatbelt.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
